James Buck Frederick, age 95, of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Barbourville Nursing and Rehibition.
James was born April 28, 1931, in Coal Port, Kentucky to the late Daniel and Hassie Smith Frederick. He was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist church.
Along with his parents, Daniel and Hassie, James was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ray Steven Mills, a son-in-law, Rufus Mills, three brothers, Albert Frederick, Hurbert (Don) Frederick, and Ed Frederick, five sisters, Alice Frederick Hurd, Eunice Frederick Bingham, Ada Hubbard, May Carter, and Emmaline Anthony.
James leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Rowena Mills Frederick, four children, Kenneth Frederick and wife Drucilla, Dorothy Clevenger, Mary Sue Mills and James Frederick and wife Tracy, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and other family and friends to miss him and to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for James Buck Frederick will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 2:00 P.M in the chapel of The Barbourville Funeral Home. Brother Kennon Roark will be officiating. The Interment will follow in the Levi Barger Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be Austin Frederick, Derrik Frederick, Derrik Hensley, James Mason, Johnathan Ray Gambrel and Delane Mills.
