Funeral services for Tony Messer will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:00 P.M in the chapel of The Barbourville Funeral Home. Brother Ricky Broughton will be officiating. Interment will follow in Calebs Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 5:00 P.M until 9:00 P.M at the funeral home.
Tony Messer age 80, of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, August 7, 2026, at his home.
Tony was born on December 30, 1945, in Stinking Creek, Kentucky to the late Gilbert and Alabama Smith Messer.
Along with his parents, Gilbert and Alabama Messer, Tony was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Messer, two sons, Tony Richard Lee Messer and Paul Jeffery Messer, , two grandsons, Donnie Messer Jr., and Ritchie Messer, one great grandson, River Collins, two brothers, Richard Messer and Randall Messer, and two sisters, Louise Messer and Nelly Robinson.
Tony leaves behind seven children, Gilbert Messer of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Tammy Lunsford and husband Clyde of Barbourville, Kentucky, Donnie Messer and Erma McIntosh of Jenkins, Kentucky, Jerry Messer and wife Jana of Barbourville, Kentucky, Barbara Sails and husband Renard of Lexington, Kentucky, Gladys Collins and fiancé Jacob Martin of Corbin, Kentucky, and Benjamin Messer, a Son-in-law, Jason Collins of Girdler, Kentucky, Daughter-in-law Amanda Messer of Girdler, Kentucky, and Daughter-in-law Roberta Montgomery, thirty-three grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Margie Messer, Brenda Callinan, Betty Davis and husband William all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Edie Cundiff and husband Richard of Dunnville, Kentucky, a host of many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to miss him and to mourn his passing.
The family will serve as pallbearers.
