Verda Mae Holder, 90, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026. Born May 28, 1936, in Knox County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise Roark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Holder; her daughter, Martha Louise Holder; and four siblings: Bill, Charles, Mabel, and Leonard.
She leaves behind her son, Bacil Holder and wife Audrey; daughter, Wilma Scott and husband Bill; son, Ron Holder; daughter, Lynn Lawson and husband Kelvin; daughter, Eileen Joy Pryse and husband David; son, H. Holder; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive her.
Verda was a member of Shady Grove Church of God in Corbin. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed reading her Bible.
Verda also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, making Afghans, and working crossword puzzles. She shared her handiwork with her beloved family and others whom she loved. Known for her fondness for the soft drink Dr. Pepper, she made sure that anyone who came her way left with a Dr. Pepper, even the mailman and U.P.S. delivery driver.
Verda was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, September 10, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
