Barbourville’s Dylan Worley pitches in the top of the seventh inning against Bell County.

The Tigers held on to defeat the Bobcats by a score of 8-7 to improve their record to 5-3 for the season. Barbourville jumped out to an early eight run lead by the end of the third inning but let Bell claw back into the game with two runs each in the fourth and sixth inning and a huge three run inning in the fifth. Bell, trailing by a single run got their opening batter on base in the seventh inning and advanced the runner to second on a sacrifice bunt.

The Bobcat’s took advantage of the next at bat and drove a long ball to right field for a single. The base runner turned the corner at third but was caught in between home and third by Barbourville’s catcher Colin Grubb for the second out of the inning. Pitcher Dylan Worley struck out the final batter to preserve the victory.

The Tigers will continue play when they travel to Corbin on Apr. 8 and then to OBI on Apr. 9. They will be back at home on Apr. 10 when Cumberland Gap, TN comes to Barbourville.
