UPDATE: The Kentucky State Police was contacted by Knox County Emergency Room at 1930 hrs. advising that the juvenile involved in this accident had passed away. Upon further investigation and contact with UK Children’s Hospital it was discovered that the child has not passed away but is in critical condition at this time.
[private levels=”basic”]According to Kentucky State Police, at 2:44 p.m. Monday Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call that a small child had been hit by a vehicle on Maggie Cane Road in Barbourville.
Preliminary investigations indicates that Scott Rose, 44, of Barbourville was operating a 2013 Ford Mustang when he stopped to wait on two small kids to get out of the roadway. Mr. Rose didn’t see the third child beside his vehicle when he pulled out. The 22-month-old girl fell underneath the vehicle and was struck by the back wheel. The toddler was taken to Knox County Hospital then flown to University of Kentucky Medical Center for her injuries.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the collision.
