Barbourville will participate in a statewide Kentucky Emergency Management tornado drill tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 23.
“This is a self evaluation for the state,” explained Emergency Manager Mike Mitchell. “The drill is to help train staff and employees on what to do in the event of an actual tornado.”
Knox County dispatch will sound the tornado alarm at 10:07 a.m. The drill will only effect state organizations such as schools and hospitals.
“Every school in the state will try to participate,” said Barbourville City Schools Superintendent Larry Warren. “The kids will be instructed to go to inner halls or classrooms with no window and sit down with their heads between their knees.”
