Two arrested for stealing truck

A man and woman are behind bars after admitting to police that they stole a parked truck at Lee’s Food Mart.

On May 14, Barbourville City Police Officer Adam Townsley responded to a report of a stolen 2007 Chevrolet Silverado with a 2005 Honda TRX450 four-wheeler in the bed. According to witness statements, the vehicle owner left the truck running with the windows down at the gas pump. A man identified by police as Aaron Asher, 33, of Keavy, who had driven to Lee’s in a Chevrolet Sonic, “saw the vehicle running, went over to it and took off with it toward Artemus Road,” said Townsley.

Police investigation indicates that two females, one identified as Mercadez Jackson, 24, of Barbourville, were passengers in the Sonic when Asher stole the truck. They then drove the Sonic to pick up Asher where he abandoned the stolen vehicle and four-wheeler.
