Merry Christmas to All…the Christmas spirit is upon us and is sure to grow inside our hearts during Union College’s annual Christmas Festival Concert.
The annual event will be held this year on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 8:00 pm inside the Conway Boatman Chapel on the Union College campus in Barbourville. The Christmas Festival will feature musical performances by three outstanding choirs and offer a wide array of seasonal music.
“This year we have planned a wonderful program that features a catalog of Christmas music that is sure to please everyone,” said Dr. Virginia Gandy, Union’s Associate Professor of Music. “Our ensembles have been so dedicated in rehearsing music for this concert and are ready for a great performance.”
Under the direction of Dr. Gandy, the event will feature performances from the Union College Singers, Union Harmony and the Union Regional Chorus. Danny Phelps will accompany the ensembles during the performance.
Selections for the 2015 Christmas Festival include This Little Light of Mine (arr. W.B. Roberts); Merry Christmas to All (arr. Jay Althouse); Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light (J.S. Bach) and Children Go Where I Send Thee (arr. Roger Emerson) and many more seasonal selections.
“Each year, we welcome our audience to share in the spirit of Christmas by joining our choruses in several sing-alongs of several well known carols,” Dr. Gandy said. “We can’t wait to see this chapel filled with the Union College family and community as we usher in the Christmas season together.”
The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the concert in the atrium of the Sharp Academic Center.
