Union ranked 25th in latest NAIA Division II Coaches’ Poll

The Union College women’s basketball team comes in ranked No. 25 in this week’s NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs dropped two spots from last week’s poll after going 1-1 on the week with a 78-76 overtime loss to Bluefield (Va.) on Feb. 14.

Head coach Tim Curry has led the Bulldogs to a 17-7 record and a 14-4 record in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

Union received 65 votes in the ninth poll on the season, Rio Grande (Ohio) stands at No. 24 garnering seven more votes than the Bulldogs.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs is Lydia Nash (JR/Florence, Ky.), who is averaging 16.6 points per game. Haley Perkins (JR/Glasgow, Ky.) ranks second with 13.0 points per game while Angie Lawrence (SR/Brodhead, Ky.) averages 12.3 points per game. Perkins leads the Bulldogs in rebounding (7.9 rebounds per game) and steals (3.13 steals per game).

As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 73.1 points per game, which ranks 33rd in NAIA Division II play. Union ranks 14th in the country in steals per game (11.8) and 27th in total steals (283).
