Kentucky State Police have released more details on a Saturday morning crash that left one juvenile dead and five others injured.
According to officials at KSP Post 10 in Harlan, dispatchers received a report at around 1:49 a.m. Saturday regarding an accident on Turkey Creek Road.
A 2008 Pontiac G6 was reportedly traveling northbound when it ran off the roadway and overturned. When KSP Trooper Aaron Frederick arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames and the driver was trapped inside.
Four passengers were transported to various landing zones where they were flown to the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee medical centers. A fifth passenger was treated at the scene and released.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox Coroner Mike Blevins.
Tpr. Frederick is continuing his investigation.
He was assisted at the scene by Trooper Frank Russell, Sgt. Jason Bunch, Coroner Blevins, Knox EMS, the East Knox Fire Department, and the Barbourville Fire Department.
