UPWARD sports kicks off as Elks host Hoop Shoot Free Throw contest

When it comes to basketball, the children of Knox County have demonstrated they have some top-notch skills when they came out Saturday for UPWARD Basketball sign-ups and evaluations.

“We are excited to be offering this opportunity to our areas youth,” said Curt Corey, Director of the local UPWARD program.

Boys and girls, ages five through twelve, signed up for either basketball or cheerleading. The UPWARD program sharpens sports skills and values, allows kids to make new friends, and provides equal playing time. The program seeks to establish character in every player by providing equal opportunity for improvement, while stressing sportsmanship in every situation.

Another fun event the kids of Knox County took advantage of this weekend was the Elk’s Hoop Shoot- Free Throw Shooting Contest, sponsored by Tri-County ELKS #2628, Knox County UNITE and the First Baptist Church UPWARD Committee.
