Water Park gets much-needed needed repairs in time for holiday

Fireworks, car show, live music for Fourth of Julywaterpark

The Barbourville City Water Park is open again after closing for a couple of days for needed repairs. Although the parks and recreation board had asked the Barbourville Tourism Commission for $70,000 of its half a million dollar budget to address needed repairs and upgrades to park-related attractions around town, which included the water park, they were granted $50,000.

Work began this week on Barbourville Water Park’s Brickyard Waves. The water park re-opened today just in time for Fourth of July visitors and events.

Waterpark manager Sherri Williamson, co-manager Kenny Williamson, Barbourville Street Department Manager Robbie Cobb and plumber Jacob Phipps worked until 10:30 p.m. Tuesday making the necessary repairs in time for the holiday.

Fireworks will begin at dusk on Friday – 9:30-ish. Prior to the annual fireworks show, there will be a car show at the baseball field at 5 p.m., and live music until the fireworks begin.
