Tales from the Classroom

Every Thanksgiving in kindergarten, we try to think about the things that we are thankful for and make a combined list of them. Some of the answers stood out more than others. We think you will enjoy our list.

I am thankful the Indians taught us how to grow food.

I am thankful that I don’t have to clean up puke like the girls on the Mayflower!

I am thankful for Jesus because he makes me so happy.

I am thankful for Santa cause he gives me presents.

I am thankful for the love of my family.

I am thankful for my baby brother. He cries a lot and I put the passie in his mouth.

I am thankful for My Lord because he’s kind and he helps me.

I am thankful for this state.

I am thankful for Mommy and Daddy because they clean my house.

I am thankful to God that the Pilgrims got to the new land.

I am thankful I got Student of the Month.

I am thankful for you.

I am thankful for my two puppy dogs.

I am thankful for a lot of food.

Most of the students told me their favorite Thanksgiving food was turkey, mashed potatoes, or pumpkin pie. However, two of the students must celebrate the holiday differently than most. One student said tacos were her favorite Thanksgiving Food and a little boy said his favorite Thanksgiving Food was pizza!

As you can tell from the varied responses, what children learn at home always comes to school with them. Likewise, what students learn at school is carried home with them. It does, in fact, take a village to raise a child. Parents, mentors, and teachers do make a difference!

From our school to your home, have an extra warm and loving Thanksgiving!!
