Wildcats slow out of the gates in loss to Richmond Model

The Lynn Camp Wildcats were not able to get their season started the way they had hoped and suffered a 16-1 setback against visiting Richmond Model on Monday.

Lynn Camp’s pitchers struggled from start to finish, with four players combining to give up 15 runs on 19 hits.

Dominick Cook, Cody Bunch, Chase Brown and Tyler Lewis all took a turn on the hill. Brown struck out two, while Bunch and Cook registered one strike out each.

Lynn Camp hitters managed just two hits in the contest. Cook had one. Richard Fanella came up with the other on a double.

Fanella scored the Wildcats lone run in the second inning.

Cook and Fanella also had one stolen base apiece for the Wildcats.

Lynn Camp hitters also did not fare well with a total of eight strike outs.

Lynn Camp is back in action against Harlan as the paper goes to press. After a March 22 meeting with visiting Jellico, Tennessee, Lynn Camp will begin play in the 13th Region All A Classic Tournament.

The Wildcats are scheduled to take on Middlesboro in the first round of the All A on March 26 at home. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
