Union College’s John Wilson (SR/Manchester, Ky.) was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Baseball Player of the Week on Monday for the period ending March 1.
Wilson, a catcher and outfielder, had a big week at the dish for the Bulldogs, as they swept doubleheaders with Cumberalnds (Ky.) and UVA-Wise.
On the week, Wilson had two 4-for-5 hitting performances, coming through in a big way on Sunday in game one against UVA-Wise, as he hit both the go-ahead and game-winning RBI singles in the 9-8 victory in extra innings. Overall, Wilson hit .800 in four games, going 12-for-15 with five RBI and four runs scored.
For the short season, Wilson is batting .536, the highest average currently in the AAC.
