The Knox County Detention Center’s work release program will continue through June 30, 2020, as unanimously voted by the Knox County Fiscal Court.
The work release contract exists through the Fiscal Court and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and allows detention center inmates to provide road maintenance in the county while serving their sentence. The two-year contract will begin July 1, 2018 and allows for two crews with five inmates per crew for an average of 260 work days per year. The work release crews must adhere to an eight-hour work day with two hours allotted for travel and lunch.
