Baptist Health Corbin Honors Lena Brumley as DAISY Award Recipient

Baptist Health Corbin is proud to recognize Lena Brumley, RN, of the 3-South, Medical Unit, as its latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. It was created to honor the extraordinary contributions of nurses who exemplify resilience, dedication, and heartfelt service to patients and families.
Lena’s journey to becoming a nurse is one of remarkable strength, perseverance, and purpose. A native of Manchester, Kentucky, Lena overcame early hardships, including the loss of both parents at a young age and time spent in foster care. Despite these challenges, she held tightly to her dream of becoming a nurse and helping others.
She began her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, spending 13 years caring for patients with compassion and humility. Even while facing personal trials, including a divorce during nursing school, Lena never gave up on her calling. Today, she is a proud registered nurse, remarried, and raising two children, embodying resilience and heart in all she does.
For Lena, nursing is not just a profession, it’s a calling. She finds the greatest fulfillment in being there for patients when they are at their most vulnerable, offering comfort and compassion in times of need. As a preceptor, she mentors new nurses with patience and encouragement, helping to foster a culture of caring across her team.
In reviewing this year’s DAISY Award nominations, Lena’s name stood out, she received more nominations than any other nurse at Baptist Health Corbin. Patients, families, and colleagues alike spoke of her kindness, empathy, and unwavering dedication to excellent care.
