On August 28, 2026, the Barbourville Police Department responded to a report of a fight in progress on College Street.
Upon arrival, Chief Adam Townsley located a male subject who had sustained a stab wound and detained another male subject believed to be responsible for the stabbing. Once on scene, Assistant Chief Eric Martin began rendering medical aid to the injured male subject.
Preliminary information indicates that two male subjects became involved in a physical altercation while working at a residence on College Street. During the altercation, a knife was pulled, resulting in one of the male subjects being stabbed.
The male victim was transported by air for treatment of his injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation by PTL Colby Patterson.
Assisting at the scene were Chief Adam Townsley, Assistant Chief Eric Martin, PTL. Beth Hensley, Deputy Shawn Smith, Knox County EMS, and the Barbourville Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
