City Hall to Hold Grand Opening Thursday, Oct. 30

Posted

The City of Barbourville will formally open its new home on Daniel Boone Drive this week.
The grand opening for the new City Hall facility, located in the location of the previous municipal building, will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 30. The overall project includes a new City Hall for offices, a City Council chamber for meetings, a new, much larger fire station for the City’s Fire Department, and a new City Police Department building, located to the rear of City Hall, behind the Knox County Board of Education building.
The renovation-turned-rebuilding of City Hall began in 2023, and a groundbreaking was held in Spring 2024.
The grand opening celebration comes on the week of the anniversary of the City’s founding 225 years ago. Barbourville Tourism officially recognized the City’s anniversary on Monday, October 27, and has held or participated in various events throughout the year honoring the City’s milestone.
