Knox County students interested in participating in the 2026 Daniel Boone Festival Royalty Coronation have only a few days left to submit their applications.
All candidate applications must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service by Friday, Aug. 28. Candidates must be residents of Knox County, and a $40 nonrefundable application fee must accompany each application.
The four royalty categories include: Miniature King and Miniature Queen for kindergarten students, Princess for sixth-grade students and Queen for 11th-grade students. Applicants may select only one category.
Candidates are also required to provide a wallet-sized digital photograph for use in the Daniel Boone Festival book. The photo must be received by Aug. 28 to appear in the festival catalog. An 8-by-10-inch photograph will also be required for display in store windows and should be brought to the Candidate Picnic in September.
Voting for the 2026 royalty competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and continue through 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5. Voting boxes will be available at PNC on U.S. 25E, Forcht Bank on Knox Street, Hometown Bank on Cumberland Avenue and Commercial Bank at Union Plaza on Knox Street.
The 2026 Daniel Boone Festival Royalty Coronation will be held Monday, Oct. 5, at the Knox County Middle School gymnasium. Admission will be $5, with children younger than 5 admitted free. Voting payments may be made only by cash, cashier’s check or money order; personal and business checks will not be accepted.
