HAZARD — Knox County’s unbeaten run through the 10U Baseball All-Star Tournament came to an end Sunday as Hazard-Perry used a big fourth inning to pull away for a 13-3 victory in the winner’s bracket final at Hazard-Perry Little League.
Knox County grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added two more runs in the fourth inning, but Hazard-Perry answered with two runs in the third inning before exploding for eight runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning to secure the victory.
Luca Shaw, Spencer Sanborn and Tremayne James accounted for Knox County’s three hits. James drove in the team’s lone RBI while Shaw scored twice and Sanborn crossed home plate once.
Tremayne James started on the mound and struck out six over 3.1 innings. Brantley Asher added a strikeout in relief, and Luca Shaw recorded the final out with a strikeout.
Trevor Sanborn serves as head coach of the Knox County 10U All-Stars. Team members include Luca Shaw, Tremayne James, Asher Wynn, Spencer Sanborn, Logan Gibson, Ashton Smith, Miles Moses, Griffin Butler, Brantley Asher, Blevin Priest, Jaxton Hubbard and Charles Michael Blevins.
