BARBOURVILLE — Knox County Little League will have the luxury of waiting before taking the field when the District 4 8-10 Baseball Tournament gets underway this week at Knox County Little League.
The host team enters the tournament with one loss.
Play begins Tuesday, July 7, when Hazard-Perry takes on the winner of the District 4 West Tournament at 6 p.m. The runner-up from the West District will then face Knox County at 8 p.m.
The winners of Tuesday’s games will meet Wednesday, July 8, at 7 p.m. with a spot in the district championship on the line.
Because the tournament is double elimination, the undefeated team will have to be beaten twice to be eliminated. If the team advancing from Wednesday’s winner’s bracket game suffers its first loss in the championship, a winner-take-all “if necessary” game will be played Friday, July 10, at 7 p.m.
The District 4 champion will advance to the Kentucky State Tournament in Grayson.
Trevor Sanborn is the head coach of the Knox County 10U All-Stars. Team members include Luca Shaw, Tremayne James, Asher Wynn, Spencer Sanborn, Logan Gibson, Ashton Smith, Miles Moses, Griffin Butler, Brantley Asher, Blevin Priest, Jaxton Hubbard and Charles Michael Blevins.
