Posted

HAZARD — After falling behind early, Knox County responded in a big way Monday.

Knox County erased a six-run first-inning deficit and rolled past Tri-City 13-7 in the 10U Baseball All-Star Tournament Loser’s Bracket Final at Hazard Little League.

Tri-City raced out to a 6-1 lead in the opening inning, but Knox County answered with five runs in the second inning, added another in the third inning, two in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning to complete the comeback victory.

Spencer Sanborn scored three runs and collected two hits while recording four bases to lead the offense. Luca Shaw also had two hits and drove in a run. Tremayne James added a hit and two RBI while Blevin Priest and Miles Moses each drove in runs.

Griffin Butler delivered one of the biggest hits of the night with a triple and scored twice. Asher Wynn added a hit, and Charles Michael Blevins and Jaxton Hubbard both scored runs.

After Logan Gibson started the game, Griffin Butler settled things down on the mound, tossing three innings of hitless baseball while striking out six and allowing just one unearned run. Ashton Smith worked the final 2.1 innings and did not allow a run while striking out two.

With the win, Knox County secured a spot in the District Final Four, which begins July 7 at Knox County Little League.
