Knox County 12U falls to Harlan, 8-2

TRI-CITY — Harlan scored three runs in the second inning and added four more in the fourth to pull away for an 8-2 victory over Knox County in first-round action of the 12U Baseball All-Star Tournament Friday at Tri-City Little League.

Knox County managed five hits in the contest but was hurt by six errors as Harlan finished with eight hits in the win.

Jacob Mills led the Knox County offense, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. John Miles added a double and finished with a hit while Tripp Taylor and Carter Smith each collected hits. Zayden Cunningham drove in a run and Gunner Carnes scored the other Knox County run.

Hudson Butler started on the mound and worked 1.2 innings, allowing three runs while striking out two. Tucker Greene tossed 1.2 innings and fanned two batters while Gunner Graggs recorded a strikeout in relief. Jacob Mills struck out two over two-thirds of an inning, and Case Thompson retired the only batter he faced.

Knox County scored a run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth inning, but Harlan answered with insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the victory.

The Knox County 12U All-Star squad is coached by Travis Mills. Players selected to the team are Evan Barrett, Gunner Carnes, Zayden Cunningham, Case Thompson, Tucker Greene, Carter Smith, Tripp Taylor, Bryson Asher, Hudson Butler, Gunner Graggs, John Miles and Jacob Mills.
