Knox County UNITE Coalition Promotes ‘Give Me A Reason’ Drug Prevention Program

Posted

The Knox County UNITE Coalition is encouraging families to take part in Operation UNITE’s “Give Me A Reason” initiative, a voluntary drug testing program designed to help youth resist peer pressure and make healthy choices. The program provides parents with free drug testing kits, giving young people a simple, powerful way to say, “I can’t use drugs—my parents drug test me!”

The initiative supports three key goals: DrugFree Choice, Safe & Healthy Families, and Community Support. By offering confidential, nocost testing kits, the program empowers parents to open conversations about substance use and reinforces positive decisionmaking among teens.

Each kit can detect a wide range of substances, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, methadone, opiates, PCP, synthetic cannabinoids, buprenorphine, and alcohol. The comprehensive testing helps families identify potential risks early and encourages accountability.

Free kits are available at several convenient community locations:
Barbourville City Police Station
Hope City
KCEOC @ Gray
Knox County Chamber Office
Knox County Health Department
Knox County School Board Office
Knox County Sheriff’s Office

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Operation UNITE continue to work together to promote prevention, education, and recovery resources throughout the region. For assistance or more information, residents may contact the Treatment Help Line at 186690UNITE or the Drug Tip Line at 18664244382.

Through “Give Me A Reason,” Knox County families are reminded that prevention begins at home—and that community support makes a lasting difference.
