CRESTWOOD — Knox County kept its season alive Monday with an impressive effort at the plate, rolling past Frankfort 13-3 in the loser’s bracket second round of the 11U Softball All-Star State Tournament at Peggy Baker Field.
Knox County scored five runs in the first inning before adding to its lead with one run in the second inning, three in the third inning, one in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning.
Scarlett Williams turned in another strong outing in the pitcher’s circle, allowing just two hits and one earned run over five innings. Williams struck out nine while walking four.
Addy Evans reached base four times, scoring a team-high three runs while collecting two hits and two walks. Sophie Caldwell added two hits, scored twice and drove in a run while Scarlett Williams doubled, scored twice and drove in another run.
Charli Beth Mills contributed a hit and two RBI, Peyton Townsley and Layla Fultz each drove in a run, and Lillian Storms also picked up an RBI. Wynter Smith tripled and scored while Anslee Jones crossed the plate once.
With the victory, Knox County advances to the third round of the loser’s bracket and will return to action Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The 11U Knox County All-Stars include Scarlett Williams, Sophie Caldwell, Lillian Storms, Peyton Townsley, Wynter Smith, Anslee Jones, Charli Beth Mills, Addy Evans, Layla Fultz, Abby Kate Corey, Sophia Deaton and Allie Foltin.
