'Nurse Practitioner Week' Proclaimed in Knox County

Posted

The week of November 9-15 is recognized as Nurse Practitioner Week in the United States. The theme for this year, according to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, is “Trusted Voices, Proven Care.”
Locally, nurse practitioners were honored by a proclamation signed Tuesday morning at Barbourville ARH Hospital. Knox County Judge-Executive Mike Mitchell signed the proclamation, recognizing this week as Nurse Practitioner Week in Knox County. “Whereas, Knox County is proud to recognize and honor the service of NPs to our county and state,” the proclamation read in part (see the full text next to this story and on mountainadvocate.com).
“Nurse practitioners assist from both ends of the health care spectrum – disease prevention and treatment. With chronic health conditions like diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure so prevalent in our population, the care NPs provide can help patients manage their illnesses and lead toward better health outcomes. We are proud to have so many of these highly skilled professionals living and working in our community,” read a quote from the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives
