Knox County Farmers’ Market season opens Thursday, April 18
The KCFM will be open from 4-7 pm, Thursdays, rain or shine, April 18-October 24 at the Knox county Extension pavilion located at 215 Treuhaft Blvd across from ARH hospital.
In support of the market opening and to celebrate Earth Day, the Knox County Extension and the Knox County Soil Conservation District will be giving away White Oak, Black Walnut and White Pine saplings at the market this week.
Come shop with old and new vendors who will be offering fresh green onions, ferns , hanging flower baskets, strawberry plants, tomato plants, pepper and cabbage plants, flower pots, canned and baked goods such as zucchini bread, banana bread, apple walnut cake, sorghum cookies, pecan pie cookies, jellies, jams, chow chow, salsa, molasses, freeze dried candy, ferns and flowers, fresh eggs, local cheese, goat milk soaps and lotions, local crafts including jewelry, crocheted baby blankets, toys and dish cloths and many other items.
Once again, the KCFM will be offering Bonus Bucks to individuals participating in the WIC and Senior food voucher programs offered through the Knox County Health Department. For information on eligibility, start-dates and how to signup for these farmers’ market food assistance programs contact the Knox County Health Department. The market will have eleven vendors accepting the voucher cards this year.
