Barbourville native Drew Clavin Farmer, son of Billy Russ and Anita Carr Farmer, is serving an apprenticeship with The Mountain Advocate newspaper over the summer.

Drew is a student at The Forest School in Fayetteville, Ga., near where he lives with his parents.

Drew is an actor with noteable projects to his credit, including roles in the hit series, The Walking Dead, as well as recurring roles in the reboot of The Wonder Years, Sweet Magnolias and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile and most recently, Civil War.

While learning how newspapers operate, Drew will be producing video content for the newspaper’s social media platforms, including an upcoming relaunch of the company’s TikTok platform.

“We are excited to work with Drew. He’s a great kid, from a great family with an extremely bright future!” said Charles Myrick, Mountain Advocate publisher.
