Museum closed temporarily, looks ahead to new home

The Knox Historical Museum, which has been closed since 2023, has been promised by local, county and state officials a space in a future Knox County building.

Judge Executive Mike Mitchell, State Representative Tom O’Dell Smith and Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers informed museum officials at that a future location for the museum is assured.

With the planned Barbourville Municipal Building restricted to one floor, the city board was unable to offer a location in its new building, so we are grateful for the officials’ planned offer for a permanent home in one of their new facilities.
