Shirley F. 'Buck' Treadway Day proclaimed in City of Barbourville

During its regular meeting on Thursday, August 8, Barbourville City Mayor David Thompson, joined by council members Ronnie Moore, Mike Johnson, Corey Chesnut and Wilma Barnes, presented a proclamation declaring Friday, August 9, 2024 to be "Shirley F. 'Buck' Treadway Day" in the City of Barbourville. Council members Eddie Joe Smith and Jeremy Hicks were not present for the August regular meeting.
The proclamation was framed and presented to Barbourville Schools Superintendent Dennis Messer, who accepted the honor on behalf of the Treadway family.
The text reads:

Proclamation of the City of Barbourville
Whereas
, the City of Barbourville, Kentucky, Mayor David Thompson, and council members Ronnie Moore, Mike Johnson, Corey Chesnut, Jeremy Hicks, Wilma Barnes and Eddie Joe Smith, do hereby recognize Shirley F. "Buck" Treadway for his accomplishments and contributions to the community,
Whereas, Mr. Treadway was a dedicated community member and served his community and country in various aspects, including the education system, where he served over 50 years on the Barbourville Independent School Board; as business co-owner of Treadway Brothers, a City Council member; served in the Navy during World War II and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
Now Therefore, be it proclaimed that the City of Barbourville, Kentucky does hereby declare, Friday, August 9, 2024 as "Shirley F. 'Buck' Treadway Day" in the City of Barbourville, Kentucky.
Done this 8th day of August 2024 at a regular meeting of the City Council of Barbourville, Kentucky.
