by Larry Spicer, Reporter

The school year may be only beginning, however, Barbourville City School has hit the ground running in making sure thier kids have the best year ever.
The school held 'Steered Straight' assemblies for thier student body throughout the day on Thursday August 22.
Steered Straight works with 'Recovery Army' on helping kids make good choices early in life to help ensure them a brighter future.
Guest speaker Michael DeLeon not only talked with the students but also showed exciting videos to help educate them on the importance of making good life choices.
The assembly has proven to be off to a strong start, evidenced by some high school students even giving up their vapes due to the inspirational presentation.
More to come on this story in the upcoming issue of The Mountain Advocate.
