ALERT - Juvenile charged after threat against Barbourville City School students
On September 12th, 2024 The Barbourville Police Department was made aware that a juvenile male student had made a threat toward students at Barbourville Independent School and that administrators was already in the process of starting a disciplinary plan.
Sergeant Adam Townsley with assistance from Sergeant Eric Martin and Officer Colby Patterson began a criminal investigation into the threat that was made and was able to identify and take into custody a juvenile male at his residence.
Sergeant Townsley continues the investigation and charges have been filed against the juvenile.
Chief Winston Tye would like to urge parents to have conversation with their children about the seriousness of making such threats.
The Barbourville Police Department will continue to take any threat that is made serious and prosecute these offenses with assistance from the Knox County Attorneys Office to the fullest extent of the law.
