Obituary - Fred Jackson
Mr. Fred Jackson, age 79 of Girdler, departed this life on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his home. He was born on March 20, 1945, the son of Andrew Jackson and Sarah (Thompson) Jackson. Fred was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and had worked as an equipment operator for Shamrock Coal. Fred loved farming and gardening and visiting with his family and friends, and he especially loved going to church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Irene Jackson, a son, Stephen Jackson, his parents, Andrew and Sarah Jackson, eight brothers and sisters, Tennie Grubb, Kermit Jackson, Don Jackson, Willa Smith, Rufus Jackson, Vernon Jackson, Riley Jackson and Beatrice Bales.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his daughter Lisa Smith and husband Tolman of Girdler, two grandchildren, Letecia Knuckles and husband Josh of Corbin and Cody Mills of Girdler, four great-grandchildren, Emma Messer, Addyson Cox, Bristol Cox and Ava Kate Cox, a step-great-grandchild, Ava Danielle Knuckles, one brother, A.W. Jackson and wife Margie of Madison, Indiana, sisters-in-law, Ernestine Jackson of Girdler, Carol Jackson of North Vernon, Indiana and Mae Jackson of Manchester, Kentucky. He also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Fred Jackson will be conducted on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 12:00 noon in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Todd Jackson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery at Hinkle. Pallbearers will be Travis Smith, Cody Mills, Kelley Jackson, Noah Jackson, Josh Knuckles and Tommy Thacker. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
