The Knox County Chamber of Commerce held its latest meeting at Union College on Tuesday, September 24.
The guest speaker for the luncheon was Shawn Bingham of KCEOC Community Action Agency. Bingham shared information on the annual Knox County Community Needs Assessment Survey, which helps KCEOC in prioritizing needs within the community.
The organization receives federal grant money to assist with various programs for their community outreach programs, one example being their youth homeless shelter.
“This has provided some good things for us over the last few years,” stated Bingham, later adding many projects have come to fruition because of it.
Last year among 100 clients taking the survey, Housing, Employment, and Health were voted the top three most important areas for focus while Employment, Education, and Housing were voted top three among providers.
The survey runs from July through December. Anyone interested in more information can reach out to KCEOC.
