Katina Fields appointed as new registrar at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College
Katina Fields has been named registrar at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College following the retirement of Anita Barnhill in July. With more than 18 years of experience in student services, Fields brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her new role, where she will play a critical part in ensuring the academic success of SKCTC students.
Originally from Cumberland and now residing in Partridge, Fields has deep roots in the community. She began her career at Southeast as a part-time employee, steadily working her way to her most recent role as student affairs assistant. Her extensive experience and commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff have been instrumental in her promotion.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Katina’s experience and passion in this critical role,” said Dr. Rebecca Johnson, vice president of student affairs. “Her strong relationships with our students and staff, as well as her ability to lead key initiatives, make her an excellent choice for registrar.”
In her role as registrar, Fields will oversee critical functions such as verifying academic requirements for students pursuing degrees and ensuring a smooth registration process. Looking ahead, she plans to enhance the efficiency of registration and graduation procedures, while also increasing professional development opportunities for her staff.
“I’m excited to bring fresh ideas to the table,” Fields said. “It’s an honor to be chosen for this position, and I’m eager to continue building strong relationships with both students and faculty to ensure student success. Southeast is home to me, and I look forward to contributing even more to the college’s future.”
Fields also has played a vital role in modernizing the department, including the successful transfer of student records to a digital platform, streamlining processes for both students and staff.
When she’s not serving the students of Southeast, Fields enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family, including her three grandchildren.
