Obituary - Thelma Charlotte Morgan
October 26, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Thelma Charlotte Morgan (Stephenson), age 77, of Cement City, Michigan, formerly of Belleville, Michigan. Charlotte passed away October 18, 2024.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim Morgan, and their children Jimmy (Janice), Becky (Steve), Andy (Beth) and Steven (Kristy). She is also survived by eight grandchildren that she was so proud of: Kennedi (Justin), Cayman, and Emori (Jimmy’s kids); Saralyn (Daniel) and Lucas (Becky’s kids); and Andrew, Noah, and Levi (Andy’s kids) and was also blessed to have one great-grandchild, Daniel Jr. (Saralyn).
Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother Opal C. Peterson (Mom-o) and her brother Steven L. Peterson; both of Belleville, Michigan. Her grandmother Essie (Sara Ellen) Campbell of Belleville, Michigan and her Uncle Glenn Campbell and Aunt Rose Campbell of Corbin, Kentucky also preceded Charlotte in death. These cherished family members were all so dear to her. Those surviving Charlotte are comforted knowing the reunion they are having in Heaven is absolutely glorious.
Charlotte most of all lived her life for and loved Jesus. She was an amazing wife and mother, creating a beautiful family atmosphere that instilled in her family that love, strength and forgiveness come from Him. Her love and care for her husband and her children was beyond compare.
Quick to joke and laugh, Charlotte enjoyed family gatherings and the feeling of togetherness that brought. She always enjoyed long country drives with her husband Jim. They called the drives deer drives because they would regularly see a hundred deer in a single evening.
Mom loved to be Up North, on the rocky beaches of Lake Superior. Every family vacation was taken up there, a tradition that began back in 1968 when she and Dad went on their honeymoon which included time spent in Paradise, Michigan. It’s a magical place for our family and a tradition we will continue to carry on. Her love of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and hunting for agates, is a hobby that has been passed down to all of us. We will forever look down the beach and see Mom’s silhouette as she bends to pick up the perfect agate or a unique rock. She loved watching the beautiful sunsets and enjoyed beach bonfires that always included great conversations, lots of laughing and goofing off that lasted long after the sun had set.
Charlotte went home fulfilled and confident in where she was going and knowing her “work” here was complete. She will be lovingly missed by her adoring family and all that knew her. We are happy that she is in Heaven but there are no words to express how her presence here on Earth will be missed. We love you so much, Mom!
The Morgan family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM. Reverend Michael Floyd will officiate assisted by Steven Morgan. Interment will follow the funeral service at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky. Charlotte's husband Jim Morgan, son's Jimmy Morgan, Andy Morgan, and Steven Morgan, and daughter Becky Erickson and her husband Steve Erickson will serve as pallbearers.
