Obituary - Nellie Marsee

Mrs. Nellie Marsee, 69, of Warren Camp, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family. Born on August 6, 1955, in Pineville, Nellie was the cherished daughter of the late James and Martha Bull Miller.

A devout Christian and faithful member of Warren Camp Baptist Church, Nellie lived a life centered on faith, family, and community. She proudly served as a custodian for the Knox County School Board until her retirement, where she worked with dedication and care. In her retirement, Nellie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures like browsing the flea market, exploring Cades Cove with her husband, deer hunting, and shopping. Most of all, she treasured time with her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.

Nellie married her loving husband, Alfred Marsee, on June 5, 2002. Together, they shared many happy years filled with love and cherished memories.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dean Miller; two brothers, Bill and Andy Miller; five sisters-in-law; and the father of her two children, Troy Marsee.

Nellie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her husband, Alfred Marsee of Warren Camp; her son, Charlie Marsee and wife, Shannon, of Barbourville and her daughters, Kelli Hinkle and husband, Larry, of Barbourville, Mickey Brown and husband, Donnie, of Corbin and Kay Miller of Flat Lick. She was the proud grandmother of six grandsons, Brandon Marsee and wife, Allison, of Barbourville, Peyton Hinkle and wife, Destiny, of Barbourville, Hunter Hinkle and wife, Morgan, of Barbourville, Calvin Marsee of Russell Springs, Al Brown of Warren Camp and Chris Mills and wife, McKenzie, of Corbin. She also leaves behind six granddaughters, Makayla Hinkle and fiancé, Larken Abner, of Barbourville, Charly Marsee of Barbourville, Danni Mills of Barbourville, Bri Mills of Barbourville, Whitney Fugate and husband, Jesse, of Flat Lick, Latasha Sanchez and husband, Julian, of Middlesboro and a host of great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

She is survived by her sister, Della McDaries and husband, Willie, of Trosper; four brothers, Jack Miller of Warren Camp, Dennis Miller and fiancé, Crystal Disney, of Warren Camp, Archie Miller and wife, Ritza, of Barbourville and Jimmy Wayne Miller of Trosper; along with countless other loved ones and dear friends who will deeply miss her warmth and kindness.

Nellie’s love, kindness, and faith will always be in the hearts of those who knew her. She cherished her family deeply, and her memory will forever be treasured by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, November 20 at 1 P.M. with Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Peyton Hinkle, Hunter Hinkle, Brandon Marsee, Calvin Marsee, Al Brown, Christopher Mills, Larken Abner and Charlie Marsee.  Serving as honorary bearers will be Austin Cox, Braden Cox and Hunter Warren.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
