Barbourville Cares gives back to community
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a special time at Barbourville City School.
For the last three years, Barbourville City School, East Barbourville Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Bethesda Baptist Church, Christian Appalachian Project, City of Barbourville, Barbourville Tourism, Partners for Rural Impact, Knox Co.
FRYSC have come together to prepare a free Thanksgiving dinner and give away clothing items for those in need in the Barbourville Community.
Shortly after becoming superintendent, Mr. Dennis Messer had a vision for the Barbourville CARES program.
He desired that people in the community view Barbourville City School as a hub of services and that the school give back to the community it serves.
This year, over 500 people were served a hot meal thanks to several local churches. Also, clothing items, non-perishable food, toys, and other household products were given away thanks to the Christian Appalachian Project.
A healthy Knox County requires great community news.
