Obituary - Arliss Davenport

Mr. Arliss Davenport, 85, of Turkey Creek, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his residence. He was the son of the late John Henry and Nancy Fields Davenport born May 27, 1939 in Knox County.

He loved going to church, enjoyed farming, took pride in raising a garden every summer and selling to the local residents and visiting with friends at McDonalds. Most of all, however, he loved being “Poppie” to Jackson Alan Campbell and Colton Reid Campbell, the grandsons, who spent many a night on the farm.

Family members who preceded him in death are parents, John and Nancy Davenport; brothers, Estle, Boone, Ken, Hobert, Lonzo, and John Donaldson; sisters, Genarra Adams, and Pauline Patterson and daughter, Patricia Lynn Bentley.

Surviving family includes his loving wife, Teresa Davenport, of Turkey Creek; sister, Mavis Engle, widow of Corbin; daughter, Rachel Campbell and husband, Ryan of London; son, John Davenport of Nicholasville; grandsons, Jackson Campbell and Colton Campbell of London, Joshua Tyler Roe, of Georgetown; granddaughter, Heather Michelle Hulett of Nicholasville and great-grandson, Rhett William Roe of Nicholasville.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 18 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Charles Taylor, Rev. Mike Griffis and Rev. Ray Spicer officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Ryan Campbell, Jackson Campbell, Colton Campbell, Christian Keller and Matthew Keller.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
