Obituary - Jerry Dixon
February 23, 2025

Jerry Dixon, 49 years old, of Madison, Indiana, passed from this life into eternity on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY. The oldest of a set of triplets, Jerry was born in Harlan County, KY, on July 6, 1975, to Myrthul and Norma Dixon.
Jerry was a free-spirited soul, who loved his life and lived it to the fullest. Because he was such a talented musician and vocalist, Jerry had the opportunity to play and sing for several bands including Steel Rain, A Band Apart, The Southern Highway Band, and The Stray Bullet Band, just to name a few. You could always see him on stage, donned in one of his favorite cowboy hats and boots, while playing that bass guitar that he loved so much. Jerry had such a big heart, performing mainly for festivals and benefit singings as fundraisers to help others who were down on their luck and needed some monetary assistance. Coming from a long line of faith-filled believers, Jerry relied on the Lord as he worked out his “own salvation with fear and trembling.” Despite this energy and enthusiasm that he had for his life and his music, Jerry’s physical heart was just worn out after battling a lifetime of inherited diseases such as diabetes and coronary artery disease.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Katelyn, and children, Dakota, Madilynn, and AhLanie “Tater” Dixon; One sister: Kathy Dixon Hughes and husband Carlton; Three brothers: Melvin Dixon and wife Lenora; Jess Dixon and wife Heather; and his “womb-mate” Terry Dixon and wife Sheila; Sisters-in-law: Tracy Dixon, and Kellyn Rozema with husband Jon; And a very special cousin: Mark Turner and wife Eda;
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers: Michael and Jeffery Dixon, and Katelyn’s daughter, AnnaBella Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held at Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home in Barbourville, Ky. Family visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3:00-4:00 pm and from 4:00-8:00 pm for the public.
