by KCPS Communications

Lynn Camp High School has a new leader at the helm of its boys basketball program. Marcus McKeehan, who served as an assistant coach last season, has been promoted to head coach for the 2025-2026 season, the school announced Friday.
McKeehan is excited to step into the role and continue working with the student-athletes. “I have developed a good rapport with the team and wanted to continue to work with them as head coach,” McKeehan said.
“We have a great bunch of kids who work hard to get better every day.”
Looking ahead, McKeehan emphasizes daily improvement and building a competitive schedule.
“Our goal is to leave the gym each day better than we were when we walked in,” he said. “We want to create an atmosphere at our games that fans enjoy and are excited to be a part of.”
Beyond the high school level, McKeehan has a vision to strengthen the program’s future by implementing a youth basketball league, hosting skills nights, and running a summer basketball camp. “The long-term vision is to develop a program of pride and tradition,” he said. “We want former players to look back with pride on their time wearing the Lynn Camp orange and black.”
As for what fans can expect on the court, McKeehan describes his coaching style as player-focused and built on hard work. “We will play hard for 32 minutes every single night,” he said. “Our strategy will be based on our team’s strengths, putting them in the best situations to win games.”
However, McKeehan is just as focused on the development of his players off the court. “I want my players to understand that they are student-athletes,” he emphasized. “Academics are just as important as athletics. My goal is to help them become well-respected young men who represent our school and community with pride.”
McKeehan brings 15 years of coaching experience at both the middle and high school levels within the Knox County Public Schools.

With a clear vision and deep ties to the community, McKeehan is eager to lead the Wildcats into a new era of success.
