Knox Grand Jury returns indictments for May 2025

The Knox County Grand Jury returned the following indictments on Friday, May 23, 2025. An indictment is a formal accusation, not a conviction:
Brittany Denette Spencer, 39: One count, Flagrant Non Support.
Jessica Marie Denton, 33: One count, Flagrant Non Support; one count Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree for a 2011 conviction for Solicitation for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, First Offense, and Wanton Endangerment, First Degree, 5 years each count to be served concurrent.
Chasity J. Roop, 38: One count, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, having a 2008 felony conviction for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Offense, 6 years; one one count, Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree for a 2019 conviction for Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3 years.
Stanley William Roberts, 44: One count, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense; one count, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; one count, Possession of Marijuana; one count, Failure to Signal; one count, Driving a Motor Vehicle While License is Revoked; one count, Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree for six prior felony convictions ranging from 2017-2022 for drug charges and for receiving stolen property.
Alvie Wayne Elam, 45: One count, Flagrant Non Support.
Stacey Marie Heatherly, 37: One count, Flagrant Non Support.
Abby Marie Smith, 25: One count, Criminal Abuse in the Second Degree, involving a minor less than 12 years of age, and intentionally placing the child in a situation which caused her cruel punishment.
Earl Scott Stevens, 51: One count, Bail Jumping in the First Degree.
Ancil Lee Sowders, 68: Two counts, Assault in the Third Degree.
Isaiah Curtis Eidson, 22: One count, Assault in the Second Degree.
Matthew Ryan Anderson, 23: One count, Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration; one count, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree for “being in a public place and creating a hazardous or physically offensive condition by disobeying the commands of Officer Bryce Bays and attempting to go into a Barbourville City School while a dance was taking place.
William Buchanan, 45: One count, Assault in the Third Degree; one count, Resisting Arrest; one count, Disorderly Conduct Second Degree; one count, Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree for a 2020 felony conviction for trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, first offense, 5 years probated 5 years.
Ryan Andrew Byrd, 41: One count, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree; one count, Theft by Unlawful Taking of the Value of $500 or Less; one count, Giving a Police Officer False Identifying Information; one count, Resisting Arrest; one count, Attempted Escape in the Third Degree.
