Obituary - Walter Lee Whitehead, Jr.
Mr. Walter Lee Whitehead, Jr. age 56 of Manchester, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, August 17, 2023 in the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was born on May 10, 1967 the son of Walter Lee Whitehead, Sr. and Loretta (Ray) Whitehead. He was the husband of Elzie Sue (Lee) Whitehead. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, flea markets and auctions and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved to sing and go to church and was a faithful member of Hughes Hill Holiness Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Whitehead and one sister, Vernann Whitehead.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Elzie Sue Whitehead of Manchester, his father, Walter Lee Whitehead, Sr. of Girdler, seven children, Travis Whitehead of Barbourville, Macy Whitehead of Barbourville, Morgan Poore and Nathan of Barbourville, Chawntay Bretz and husband David of Manchester, Elizabeth Davidson and husband Austin of London, Jeffery Collins and wife Taylor of London and Gilbert Sester of Manchester, one brother, John Whitehead and wife Brooke of London, eleven grandchildren, Bentlee Whithead, Karleigh Whitehead, Presley Whitehead, Gunnar Garrison, Damion Bretz, Colt Bretz, Jamison Bretz, Clay Davidson, Harper Collins, Mattie Collins and Naveh Davidson and his mother in law, Loretta Lee of Manchester. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitehead will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Tom Elliott, Rev. Alva Robinson, Rev. Jerry McKinley Holland, Rev. Ted Eversole and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Napier Family Cemetery in Bledsoe. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
