Obituary - Leamon Collett

Mr. Leamon Collett, 77, of Alex Creek, passed away Friday morning, March 1, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late Roy and Bessie Collett born on August 16, 1946 in Knox County.

Leamon was a former heavy equipment operator with the OEO and believed in the Holiness faith. He enjoyed deer hunting, four-wheeling and especially spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son, Grant Dale Collett and a brother, Steve Collett.

Survivors include his loving wife, Geneva Collett of Bailey Branch; children, Eugene Collett and Christy, Bessie Jean Jones and husband, Lowel, all of Alex Creek, Malvie Baker and husband, Arthur Leonard, of Moore Creek, Roy Lee Collett and wife, Kim, of Alex Creek and Mallie Lynn Collett and husband, Doyle Grubb, of Bailey Branch; sisters, Thelma Helton of Alex Creek, Martha Blankenship of Hale Creek, Mary Saylor of Flat Lick and Elizabeth Messer and husband, Vantory, of Barbourville; grandchildren, Grant Thomas Jones, Lester Jr. Hensley, Steven Dewayne Hensley, Lucas Leamon Hensley, Victor Isiac Mills, Daniel Ray Hensley, Austin Lee Collett, Courtney Collett, Timothy Collett, Joshua Jarvis and Sierra Collett; great grandchildren, Aiden Alexandra and Abel Ashton Jones, Kylie Amana, Kaylee Arabella, Karter Les, Alexander Dewayne, Selena Parabellum and Zachary Paul Hensley and Noah Ivan Collett; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted at the Salem Baptist Church Thursday, March 7 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Demus Couch, Rev. Lonnie Collett and Rev. Tim H. Mills officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Collett Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Grant Jones, Lester Hensley, Preston Messer, Timothy Collett, Vantory Messer, Austin Collett, Leonard Saylor, Cody Fee, Lucas Hensley and Daniel Hensley. Serving as an honorary bearer will be Jamie Burdine.

Friends may visit at the church Tuesday after 6 P.M. until the funeral hour Thursday.
