A Union Commonwealth University football player has been charged with assault.

Bulldog sophomore wide receiver Tony Norman, a native of Decatur, Ala., was arrested Saturday after a victim reported red marks on their chest, right arm and shoulder.

Norman was arrested by Barbourville Police and charged with Assault Forth Degree Dating Violence (minor injury). Norman was held at the Knox County Detention Center for approximately three hours before he was released Saturday morning on a $1,500 surety bond.

Norman is due to appear in Knox District Court on Tuesday, April 30.

In response, Union Commonwealth University released a statement addressing the incident: ““We are aware of an off-campus incident involving a student and a non-student. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on ongoing litigation. We will await the outcome of the legal process before determining any further action.”
