CANDID KIDS - June Callihan Smith

Meet June Callihan Smith is the daughter of Brittney and Dustin Smith. She is 6 years old and attends Barbourville Elementary School. We recently interviewed “Junie” and this is what she had to say:

What do you like about school?

“I love music class. I like to go up there and sing. I loved playing the xylophone. I wouldn’t change anything about school. I like it all!”

Tell me about your family.

“Me and Mommy like to get Starbucks, Girl! (She points and shakes her finger in the air) I like when Daddy takes me to Thompson Park. I like to play with Bubby on the playground. Me and Nana get manicures and pedicures together. I like when papaw comes and watches me dance at the games. Me and Didi make pupcakes and I like to aggravate Pop! I like to play with Scarlet, Ellie, and Tomi Kate.”

What do you think is pretty about you?

“I think my blue eyes are pretty because nobody in my family has eyes like me.”

What are you good at?

“gymnastics and cheering on the Ti-gas!”

If you were the President of the United States, what rules would you make?

“You have to let me be queen of the whole world. I can sas people. You can run in the hallway at school. Kids can do whatever they want.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“I want to be a dental hygienist like my Aunt Audra!”

What do you think makes a person popular?

“If they be nice and if they be kind.”

Do you have pets?

“I’m asking Santa for a baby puppy. I want to kick Tiger out of the house and give it back to Shawn Vaughn. It gets hairs on my bed!”

What do you want to be for Halloween?
“Wednesday Adams! She gets to trick people. I would give Pugsley “Bubby” a pop tart with toothpaste on top of it to trick him.”

Is there anything else that you’d like to tell me?

“I get mad when Roblox kicks me out. Then, my friends have to add me back in.”

“I’m not scared of anything.”

“I want to learn to do a backflip!”

“If I had a superpower, I would want to freeze everybody. Then, Mommy, Daddy, and Bubby and Tiger would have the whole house to ourselves. And we could go to Hawaii and Disney cause me and Mommy, we need our girl time.”

“I love the rides at Debbie Boone. I like to ride the ship. It goes so high and it tickles my belly. I’ll pray that I don’t fall out!”

“My best friends are Joselyn, Blakely, Braylee, Addison, and Eden. They made me the captain of our dance practice at recess.”

“I love riding the pep bus to ballgames. I be sassy with them and I make them turn the music up nice and loud!” (Shakes her head and grins.)

“I’m on the front row on the school dance team because I’m good at dancing and facials like Hannah Mills.”

“I just made the dazzlers with my Aunt Ashlee.”

“Can I say if I got a boyfriend? His name is Dawson. We play Roblox together because we are boyfriend and girlfriend.”

“My birthday is January 12th and I’m going to have a Tiger Mascot at my party.”

“Jesus is my hero. He keeps us safe.”

“I wore skeleton pajamas to school yesterday for Pajama Day.”
