Grahic is Advocate’s first student reporter

This week The Mountain Advocate is excited to introduce its first student reporter, Selma Grahic!

Grahic is a senior at Knox Central High School, and will be freelancing as a Student Reporter for the newspaper helping to cover the happenings going on at Knox Central High School such as sports, various events and highlighting groups that often get overlooked.

When asked why she was interested in working with the newspaper, she said, “I joined the Mountain Advocate because it is the heart of the news in our town. I love to play for the little guy so i figured I give clubs like archery or golf a chance to shine like some of the bigger sports, and I knew the advocate would be the best way to do it! That’s why I was really interested in working with the local media and, specifically, the Mountain Advocate.”

Grahic finds fun in both sports and creativity. “My favorite hobby at the moment is soccer! I love my little soccer team and all the girls on it. A pastime of mine (which kinda counts as work but it’s fun to me) would probably have to be creating graphics for game days or school events!”

She aspires to one day become a filmmaker and, or, screenwriter. “I can see myself making films or writing the script for hit movies.”

“I’d like the readers to know that I am just a geeky girl that is hoping to shine some light on the hidden gems of the school,” she said. “I would like to use my time at the Mountain Advocate to not only tell stories, but to change lives! (PS - I also have a pet mouse named Toot!)”
