Corbin, Ky (October 25, 2024) - Baptist Health Corbin is honored to announce the renaming of its Cancer Center to the Tracy Owens Cancer Center. A dedication ceremony was held on Thursday, October 24, at 2:30 p.m., celebrating the enduring legacy of the late Tracy Owens, who bravely fought cancer for many years.
This renaming is made possible by a generous $3 million donation from Randall and Victoria Weddle, in memory of Victoria’s mother, Tracy Owens. This substantial contribution will significantly enhance cancer care at Baptist health Corbin, allowing the hospital to expand patient services, improve access to oncology treatments and invest in leading-edge technology in surrounding communities.
“My mother was a beacon of love and strength,” said Victoria Weddle. “Her legacy will now help others as they navigate their cancer journeys. We hope this enhances care in a region where cancer is extremely prevalent and encourages others to seek answers and advocate for their health.” The dedication ceremony will take place at the entrance of the Tracy Owens Cancer Center, and the public is invited to attend this momentous occasion.
“The significance of this gift cannot be overstated,” said Ryan Yother, director of philanthropy at Baptist Health. “We have not seen this level of support in over thirty years. This marks a transformation in cancer care in Corbin and reminds us of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many.” Since its inception, the Baptist Health Corbin Foundation has been instrumental in enhancing cancer care at the hospital. Their contributions have funded critical advancements that enable intentional, patient-focused care for families facing cancer. “With every contribution, we strengthen our ability to offer hope, healing and innovative care, ensuring our community has access to the treatments they need without having to leave home,” said Mark Steely, vice president of planning and operations at Baptist Health.
Hospital President Angelia Foster expressed her gratitude, stating, “This generous gift ensures that Tracy Owens’ legacy will continue to inspire and impact lives of cancer patients for generations to come.” For more information about the dedication ceremony or to make a donation, please contact Ryan Yother, Director of Philanthropy, Baptist Health Foundation Corbin at 606-627-7922.
