Cumberland Valley Electric proposes rate hikes

Cumberland Valley Electric customers will see a rate hike. On Monday, the power cooperative posted a public notice on its website and social media outlining the proposed rate adjustments presented in an application filing with the Kentucky Public Service Commission. If approved, the new rates would take effect on April 23, 2025.
An initial examination of the public notice shows a 3.9% increase.
If approved, some of the most substantial increases apply to the following rates: 
• Residential, Schools and Churches – increase from $17.62 to $25.00
• Prepay Service – consumer facility charge per month – an increase from $17.62 to $25.00; consumer facility charge per day – an increase from $0.59 to $0.82
• Schedule 1 Res. T.O.D. – increase from $20.73 to $25.00
• Schedule 2 Small Commercial Small Power – an increase from $19.69 to $27.07
• Schedule 2 Small Commercial Small Power – increase from $26.17 to $33.00
• Schedule 5 Inclining Block Rate – an increase from $10.26 to $17.64
